Abstract

The survey focused on Finnish views on the European Monetary Union (EMU), and on the future of the European Union. The respondents were asked how interested they are in matters related to the Finnish EU membership, what kind of impact the membership had had in Finland, and what kind of consequences an eventual enlargement of the EU to Eastern and Central Europe could have. The respondents were asked about their attitudes towards the EMU, how likely it was that Finland would be among the first countries to join the EMU, and which were the most reliable sources for EMU information.

Background information included the respondent's sex, age group, size of municipality of residence, province of residence, education, professional group, industry of employment, trade union membership, and which party R would vote for if the parliamentary elections were held at that time.
