Abstract

The survey studied Finnish citizens' views on, for instance, military alliances and domestic defence industries. The respondents were asked to state their personal opinions on Finnish foreign policy, armed civil defence, Finnish Defence Forces funding, and Finland's participation in KFOR peace-enforcement operation. In addition, the respondents' willingness to participate in civil defence in case of enemy invasion were assessed.

Background variables included the respondent's sex, age, primary profession, place of residence, occupation, education, domestic environment, and household's annual income.

Stratified quota sampling based on the respondent's sex, age, and the province and place of residence. Interviews were conducted in 47 municipalities. Approximately one half were interviews made in markets, shops, cafes etc., and the other half face-to-face interviews.
