An online survey conducted by a Finnish newspaper. The data consist of responses to open-ended questions about reasons for alcohol use. The respondents were asked to describe why they use alcohol, why they want to get drunk, what they try to achieve with intoxication, and in what ways their lives would change if they abstained from drinking.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.

The survey was advertised in the weekly supplement Nyt to readers and anyone could respond to it.

The dataset is (B) available for research, teaching and study. The data and its creators shall be cited in all publications and presentations for which the data have been used.
