Abstract

The survey charted Finnish public opinion on foreign policy, security and military alliances. Respondents were asked how Finland's membership in the European Union affects, for example, the environment, economy and employment. Attitudes to Finland's management of international relations were studied. Respondent's views on state security were examined with questions pertaining to NATO's enlargement, nuclear power and the situation in other countries. In conclusion, opinions on the defence system and defence expenditure of Finland were charted. Background variables included respondent's gender, age, level of education, occupational group, location of residence (area, municipality, county and province), household composition, political party preference, and household's annual gross income.
