The interview study focused on business life and entrepreneurship in Kauhajoki, Finland, from the 1950s to the 21th century. The data consist of interview transcripts. The interviewees were entrepreneurs, self-employed persons, experts, public officials and shop stewards who had had a significant role in the development of local businesses. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.

In addition, a separate HTML version of the transcripts. One unit of observation was removed from the data, because it was not an interview but a third-person account of a research participant. The data contain identifiers that have not been anonymised (e.g. person names, information on location of residence, names of workplaces and equivalent). When publishing quotations from the data, data users must very carefully consider in each case what information needs to be removed or altered according to scientific ethical guidelines. Published excerpts from the data must not contain indirect identifiers (e.g. detailed work history, unique life events) that could cause third persons potentially mentioned in the interviews to be identified. The dataset is (C) available only for research including master's theses. The data and its creators shall be cited in all publications and presentations for which the data have been used. The bibliographic citation may be in the form suggested by the archive or in the form required by the publication. Notify FSD of all publications where you have used the data by sending the citation information to user-services.fsd@tuni.fi. The original data creators and the archive bear no responsibility for any results or interpretations arising from the reuse of the data. Person names were removed from the data unless the mentioned person was engaged in business activities as an entrepreneur, had a political role, or was a public official.
