Sisällön kuvaus

The data contain interview notes and transcripts of interviews of research group members in a certain field of study from three different countries; Finland, Austria and Portugal. All the interviewed research groups belonged to the same field of study, but in different organisational contexts. Some of the interviews are individual interviews and some are group interviews of 2-6 people.

Themes of the interviews included goals of the research groups, their operating environments, and views on cooperation and competition. The interviewees were asked, among others, about the institutional background and size of the research group, main tasks of the group, and possible changes in the operating environment and goals of the group. Further, the strategy and identity of the group was investigated as well as networks, partners, competitors and the group's role in society.

Five interviews were conducted in Austria, four in Portugal, and two in Finland. The data collected in Austria and Portugal is in English, while the data collected in Finland is in Finnish. The transcripts of the interviews conducted in Austria and Finland are fairly rough and note-like, whereas the transcripts of the interviews conducted in Portugal are somewhat more detailed.

Background information include, among others, the month of interview and the type of organisation. For the interviewees, background information includes his/her role in the research group and, for some of the interviewees, their gender.

The data were collected as part of a postdoctoral researcher project, which was funded by the Academy of Finland and studied information society, higher education and innovation.

The dataset is available only in Finnish.
