Abstract

The data consist of expert interviews on the significance of controlling climate change and taking climate change mitigation into account in environment policy. 37 experts on forestry, agriculture and environment policies who worked in different sectors, organisations and occupations were interviewed. The interviews were conducted within a few weeks from the publication of the IPCC special report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. In addition to the interviews, five Academicians of Science responded in writing to a question on the significance of climate change.

Slightly different interview schemes were used for each group of experts depending on their field of expertise. The interview questions charted, for example, the impacts of agriculture or forestry on the climate and ways to decrease any negative impacts. The experts also expressed their views on how climate change mitigation should be acknowledged in environment policy.

Background information included the occupations of the experts. The occupations cannot be connected to the responses in the data.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.
