Sisällön kuvaus

This dataset consists of 16 transcribed interviews with young adults living in North Karelia. The interviews covered the young adults' media use in everyday life, personal attitudes regarding mass and social media, and views on what the youth media landscape looks like in contemporary society. Data collection was conducted as part of a research methods course at the Department of Social Sciences of the University of Eastern Finland. The interviewers were students.

Themes in the interviews included the interviewees' media use in general, attitudes towards media use, perceptions of the influence of social media on face-to-face interaction, and views on the discussion taking place in contemporary society concerning the media use of youth and young adults.

Background information included the interviewee's age, gender, economic activity and occupational status, household composition, and family background. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.
