Tampere University has conducted student experience surveys annually since 2004. FSD collections contain data from 2004 to 2015 and from 2021 to 2023. Archiving of the series has been discontinued. The surveys gather information on progress in, satisfaction, and problems with studies. Student feedback is used to improve the quality of education. The respondents are students from different annual courses at Tampere University.

The surveys contain both repeated and changing modules. The surveys cover for example the respondents' attachment to the university, what it had been like to start studying their course and factors supporting or hampering these processes. Other themes are study progress, work, completing the degree and future plans. Internet surveys are conducted by the student services of Tampere University.

The survey is conducted among first-year students at Tampere University to collect information about their first-year study experiences and their attachment to their studies and the university. In addition to the above, the survey focuses on personal study plans, student and professor tutoring and student well-being.

The survey started by asking how the respondents' studies were progressing, whether they had received the support they needed to plan their studies, and how successful their independent study planning has been in SISU-system. Respondents were asked if they needed more information on any topic. The next step was to find out students' opinions on student and teacher tutoring. The final section dealt with student well-being and attachment to studies and the university. Respondents rated a range of statements relating to issues such as coping and loneliness. Finally, respondents were asked to rate their study experience at Tampere University.

Background variables included the respondent's gender, faculty and level of degree.

All first-year students who started their studies at Tampere University were invited to participate in the survey. In the end, 988 students participated in the survey. The survey was answered online using Microsoft Forms.

The data files are generally not processed and are retained in the form they were delivered in by the researcher. If necessary, the archive anonymises the data. The original data creators and the archive bear no responsibility for any results or interpretations arising from the reuse of the data. For anonymisation purposes, the age of the respondent, the degree programme, and the main subject of the studies have been removed from the data at FSD. For the same reason, open-ended variables were removed. In addition, multiple-choice variables, where structured response options and open-ended responses were recorded in the same variable have been removed at FSD.
