<abstract>

The survey explores Finns' views on the acceptability of the government's COVID-19 actions. The data was collected in the spring of 2021 in connection with the citizen deliberation on the acceptability of COVID-19 actions. The data served as a control group for the responses of the participants in the citizen deliberation. The responses of the participants in the citizen deliberation have been archived in the FSD as a separate dataset under the name "FSD3799 Citizen Deliberation on COVID-19 Restrictions and Recommendations 2021". The survey is part of the research project "Preparing for the next waves: towards cooperative and legitimate pandemic governance in Europe" under the PALO project.

At the beginning of the survey, respondents were asked whether the restrictions against the COVID-19 were too loose, suitable or too tight. The survey then moved on to ask for more respondents' opinions on the restrictions against the COVID-19 and on the various recommendations and regulations issued by the authorities. For example, respondents were asked how acceptable they found the authorities' recommendation to limit the number of participants in private events. Next, respondents were asked how closely they had followed the news about the COVID-19 in various media. They were also asked about their trust in different sources of information on the COVID-19 situation and in general. Respondents were then asked about their feelings on the COVID-19 situation and their factual knowledge of the COVID-19 situation. Finally, background information was asked, such as the respondent's political party preference and interest in politics.

Background variables included the respondent's gender, year of birth, type of residence, highest level of education, economic activity, household income, household size, number of children and political party preference.
