The data compiles information from parish registers maintained by the clergy of Savo parishes on the godparent networks of children of the gentry in Rautalampi during the years 1790-1809. The data contains information on the child's date of birth, date of baptism, parents, and estate status. In addition, it includes information on the child's godparents, such as the number of godparents, their background, their average age at the time of the child's birth, and whether they were related to the godchild.
The study includes all children of the gentry in Rautalampi who were baptised between 1790 and 1809 and were identified in the examined records. The information was gathered primarily from parish registers maintained by the clergy of Savo parishes and from the student registers of the University of Helsinki, as well as, to a lesser extent, from other genealogical registers and family histories compiled according to scholarly principles.
