Abstract

In the survey, Finnish citizens' views on, for instance, stand-by forces and the administration of foreign policy were probed. The respondents were asked to state their personal opinions on armed civil defence, antipersonnel land mines, combat helicopters, voluntary civil defence, and the funding of the Finnish Defence Forces. Opinions on military alliances and the meaning of neutrality policy were also monitored. In addition, the respondents were asked to assess the impact of EU membership on Finland's development, as well as phenomena influencing the security of Finland and Finnish citizens.

Background variables included the respondent's sex, age group, social group, education, and the place and area of residence.
