Abstract
The survey charted the views of Finnish MP candidates on, for example, Finnish neutrality policy, universal military service, armed defence in case of military attack, Finnish Defence Forces funding, and defence industries. In addition, the candidates were asked to state their personal views on parliamentary defence committees, international peacekeeping and crisis management, and the operations of voluntary civil defence organisations. Opinions on the tax-deductibility of donations made to civil defence purposes were also studied. Background variables included respondent's year of birth, gender, political party, constituency, prior MP candidacy or term of office, and other political positions of trust.
