Abstract

An online survey conducted by a Finnish newspaper. The data consist of responses to open-ended questions about mothers' relations with their adult children. The mothers were asked how far away their children lived, and how often and in what ways the mothers were in contact with them. Helping adult children, as well as reasons for doing or not doing so were studied. The respondents were asked whether they talked about sex with their children, whether their children accused them of anything, what they thought was difficult in being a mother, and whether they would have raised their children differently at the time of the survey if they had been given a chance to do it again. Possible conflicts with children and their causes were investigated. The respondents were also asked what adult children need their mothers for.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.
