Abstract

An online survey on violence, conducted by a Finnish newspaper. The data consist of responses to open-ended questions. The respondents were asked whether they had been subjected to violence by persons they knew, or whether they themselves had used violence against persons known to them. Other questions covered violence against or by a stranger, and sexual violence. The respondents were asked whether they thought the violence had been justified. Reasons for violent or aggressive acts, their consequences, and feelings caused by these acts were described.
