Abstract
The data includes country-specific information on elections in the Member States of the European union, for example, years of European Parliamentary elections, number of elections and constituencies, electoral system, information on voting threshold and compulsory voting, voter turnout, total number of voters for each election, number of representatives, vote and seat share of parties, and European Parliamentary group membership of representatives.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
The variables of the data have been named in the following way: pxyyp is the vote share (%) of x:th party in the elections of the year yy; pxyys is the number of seats obtained by x:th party in the elections of the year yy; pxyyop is the seat share (%) of x:th party in the elections of the year yy; pnxyy is the name of x:th party; gnxyya is the name of the European Parliamentary group to which members of x:th party belonged after the elections of yy; gnrxyya is the number of representatives of x:th party belonging to the above-mentioned group. If party representatives have divided into several parliamentary groups, than gnxyyb is the name of the (second) group to which members of x:th party belonged to after the elections of yy; gnrxyyb is the number of representatives of x:th party belonging to the above-mentioned group. If party representatives have divided into a third parliamentary group, then gnxyyc is the name of the (third) group to which members of x:th party belonged to after the elections of yy; gnrxyyc is the number of representatives of x:th party belonging to the above-mentioned group.
