Abstract

The survey charted the employment situation and job placement of persons who had graduated from the University of Tampere in 2006. Current employment situation, employment history before and after graduation, and experiences of unemployment after graduation were investigated. The respondents were asked about the nature of the current job and whether the job was commensurate with their qualifications. One topic covered job searching methods used. The respondents were also asked which factors were most important in obtaining their current job and which factors may have hindered or prevented them from finding a job. Views were probed on whether they had gained useful skills and abilities (e.g. information seeking skills, social skills, language skills, problem solving skills) from their studies.

Background variables included the respondent's gender, region, and information on the degree (degree programme, faculty, field of study, possible previous degree and time of starting studies).
