Abstract
The survey charted the employment situation and job placement of persons who had graduated from the University of Tampere in 2007. Other main themes included factors influencing obtaining a job and satisfaction with studies.
The respondents' employment situation at the time of the survey, employment history before and after graduation, and experiences of unemployment after graduation were investigated. The respondents were asked about the nature of their current job and whether the job was commensurate with their qualifications. One topic covered job searching methods used. The respondents were also asked which factors were most important in obtaining their current job and which factors may have hindered or prevented them from finding a job. Views were probed on whether they had gained useful skills and abilities (e.g. information seeking skills, social skills, language skills, problem solving skills) from their studies.
Background variables included the respondent's gender, region, and information on the degree (degree programme, faculty, field of study, and time of starting studies).

Sampling Procedure
Total universe/Complete enumeration
Questionnaires were mailed to all persons who had completed their M.A. or Licenciate of Medicine degree at the University of Tampere in 2007. The persons who graduated with a lower degree (B.A.), for instance Bachelors of Education (nursery school teachers), were not included in the survey. The respondents received the questionnaire roughly one year after their graduation.
Out of 1,093 graduates, 778 responded. There were no persons graduating with two degrees in 2007.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
Open-ended variables were removed from the data, with the exception of variables Q3c_1 and Q3c_2 regarding satisfaction with the university's educational provision. These responses were anonymised and the anonymised parts marked with [square brackets]. Background variables obtained from the student register were re-categorised when necessary to minimise the risk of identification. Because only a few males graduated in psychology in 2007, two female respondents were coded as male to prevent identification.
Weighting
There are no weight variables in the data.
