Abstract

The data are part of Substance Abuse Treatment series, which comprises datasets that can be used in both quantitative and qualitative research.

This dataset comprise 20 transcribed interviews. In them, therapists working with people with substance abuse problems were interviewed about the reasons, factors and motives for their career choice, such as childhood experiences, personal substance abuse and religiosity.

Potential participants were chosen from two different substance abuse treatment facilities in Finland on the basis of their being qualified permanent employees. The actual participants were then randomly selected out of this target group. The interviews were conducted in a period of three months in both facilities. Prior to the interviews, the respondents were sent the interview frame and a background questionnaire (see FSD2693). Each interview lasted from one to two hours. There are a total of 580 pages of interview transcriptions.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.
