Abstract
The study focused on female users of the Linux operating system, their experiences of the system, and attitudes to and expectations of female users in the male-dominated Linux community. The data consist of nine interview transcripts. The interviewees were highly educated, 20-36 years old Finns and the interviews were carried out in ICR, Skype, Microsoft Messenger or Facebook. There is a related questionnaire survey on Linux user perspectives (see FSD2964).
Background variables included the participant's economic activity, IT-related education, and whether had computer gaming as a hobby, had used computers as a child, and had contacts with the Linux community.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.
