Abstract
The data consist of interviews of families whose children had been diagnosed with a developmental disability or some other long-term illness. The interviews charted the support received by the families from health and social services, educational services, third sector, and peers and relatives. The interviews were informal and the interviewees talked about, for instance, parenthood, coping, and everyday life of families with special needs children.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.

The researcher knew one of the families she interviewed and the rest of the participants were discovered through the first family (snowball sampling). Two of the interviews were conducted in the homes of the interviewees, one at the workplace of the interviewees, and one at the researcher's home. One of the interviews was conducted in English, while the rest were conducted in Finnish.
