Abstract
The Body Image and Childhood Memories 2015 data consist of 71 texts about appearance and one's own body image in relation to youth and childhood experiences. The texts deal with a variety of topics ranging from obesity and fashion to beauty standards and changes in own appearance through different ages. Most of the respondents were women. The respondents' age varied between 18 and 78 years.
The background variables were the respondent's occupation, year of birth, region of residence, and gender.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.

Writing guidelines for the competition were presented on the Finnish Literature Society website. Furthermore, a writing invtation was sent to regular SKS contributors. The text could be delivered using an online form on the SKS website, by e-mail, or by letter.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
Possible references to writer name, and other references to direct identifiers or outside sources, such as pictures or blog posts, referring to the writer or possible third parties were removed during anonymisation. Furthermore, indirect identifiers referring to third parties or sensitive content were removed when necessary. If third party names recurred in the text, they were either replaced with pseudonyms or removed. Edits by the FSD are marked with [[double square brackets]].
The data contain texts (N: 71), whose writers gave their content for the text to be archived at the FSD. All the texts (N: 105) are archived at the archive of the Finnish Literature Society (SKS).
Citation Requirement
The data and its creators shall be cited in all publications and presentations for which the data have been used. The bibliographic citation may be in the form suggested by the archive or in the form required by the publication.
