Abstract

This dataset contains information about all private bills and other motions made by Members of the Finnish Parliament in 1999-2014 (four full parliamentary terms, four years each). Motions that Members of Parliament can make include motions for debate, legislative motions, budget iniatives, supplementary budget iniatives, and petitionary motions. The following information is included in the data: type of the motion, id number of the motion, the year the motion was made, the first signatory to the motion, party of the first signatory, title of the motion, section of the state budget, date of the motion, and other signatories to the motion. The project was funded by the Academy of Finland, professor emeritus Hannu Nurmi's project "Models of Political Institutions" (MOPI), the Public Choice Research Centre (PCRC) at the University of Turku, and the department of Political Science at the University of Turku.
