Abstract
The survey charted the employment situation and job placement of persons who had graduated with either a Master's degree or a Licentiate of Medicine degree from the University of Tampere in 2016. The survey was divided into three parts: current employment status and employment history, factors affecting employment, and happiness with employment situation and degree.
The first part of the survey examined the current employment and the employment history of the respondents. This included questions about the type and length of current employment and the type of employment the respondents had had during their studies. The second part of the survey charted which factors had been the most important in obtaining their current job (e.g. degree, work experience, motivation) and which factors may have hindered or prevented them from finding a job (e.g. lack of work experience, poor labour market situation in their field, gender). The respondents were also asked about the channels they used when looking for work (e.g. whether they used online recruitment portals).
In the third part of the survey, satisfaction with current employment situation and how well the job corresponded with the respondent's education and goals were investigated. The respondents were also asked about their satisfaction with the degree programmes at Tampere University. The respondents' views on how well their education had provided them with useful skills and abilities that were relevant in their current job were charted with questions relating to, for example, information seeking skills, social skills, language skills, problem solving skills and managerial skills. Finally, the respondents were asked whether they were higher education students at the time of responding or were planning to study for a degree in the next 12 months, as well as whether they had completed teacher training.
Background variables included the respondent's gender and province of residence as well as information on the degree (degree programme, faculty, field of study, possible previous degree and time of starting studies).

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
To prevent identification of individuals, variable q3f_1_19_1 denoting language other than mentioned in the response options, as well as the variables denoting degree programme, language of studies, major subject, country of citizenship and NUTS3 region of residence were removed. In the variable denoting degree, Master of Arts (Theatre and Drama) (TeM) was reclassified into the same class with Master of Arts (FM), and in the variable denoting province, the provinces of Oulu, Lapland and Eastern Finland were reclassified into one class due to a low response rate. In the variable denoting field of study, education fields were reclassified into one class. The variable denoting the year of starting studies was reclassified into five classes due to the risk of identification. In the variables denoting field of study and degree, the psychology study field (PSY) and Master of Arts (Psychology) (PsM) were reclassified into the same classes with the social sciences study field (YHT) and Master of Social Sciences (YTM) respectively. In the same variables, the health sciences study field (TER) and Master of Science (Health Care) (TtM) were reclassified into the same classes with the medicine study field (LÄÄ) and Licentiate of Medicine (LL) respectively. In the variable denoting faculty, BioMediTech (BMT, Institute of Biosciences and Medical Technology) and School of Health Sciences (HES) were reclassified into the same class with the School of Medicine (MED) due to a small number of graduates.
The data do not contain open-ended responses to the "Other, what?" response option, variables q1e, q3e, q3g and all variables in section q4.
Weighting
There are no weight variables in the data.
