Abstract
The data consist of Helsingin Sanomat and Yle articles focusing on the hate crime convictions of three Finns Party politicians (Teuvo Hakkarainen, Sebastian Tynkkynen and Terhi Kiemunki). In the articles, the politicians themselves, their colleagues and other parties comment on the topic from various perspectives. The articles were published on the websites of Helsingin Sanomat and Yle between March 2016 and February 2017.
The articles covered, among others, the content of the texts that led to the convictions and the sanctions imposed for them. The study charted the relationship between hate speech and the freedom of speech and the convicted politicians' attitudes towards their convictions.
The data contain the full published articles as well as a list of the articles with their authors, dates of publication and source (Helsingin Sanomat or Yle).
The dataset is only available in Finnish.
