Abstract
This dataset contains writings on sustainable development, obtained through a Finnish Literature Society (SKS) writing competition.
In the invitation to write, the participants were asked to describe their thoughts on sustainable development and how sustainability was visible in their life and the lives of people close to them. Additionally, they were asked to describe their own choices regarding sustainability and the reasons behind those choices, as well as what kinds of choices they would be ready to make to support sustainable development and what kinds of choices would feel impossible.
The invitation to write suggested several different viewpoints that the writers could adopt in writing their texts. The viewpoints included, for example, their habits as a consumer, nourishment, travel, and technology.
Background information included the participant's name or pseudonym, occupation, date of birth, area of residence and gender. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
To prevent identification of the participants, references to the writer's name or other direct references to the personal or contact information of the writer or any third persons were removed during archiving. The names that appeared in the texts were removed if they occurred once and changed if they occurred more often. Changes made at FSD were marked with [square brackets].
91 texts were received. This dataset consists of the 73 responses where the writer consented to the archiving of their text at FSD. Two texts were not archived because they were not written in Finnish. Three pictures were sent with the texts, of which two were removed due to copyright issues. The archived data include one picture. All the texts (N: 91) are archived at the archive of the Finnish Literature Society (SKS).
