Abstract
The dataset consists of texts written on Finnish experiences of and feelings related to indebtedness.
The invitation to write prompted the participants to discuss, among other topics, how they had become indebted, how the feeling of shame was connected to the reasons why they were indebted, and in which situations they had experienced shame. Additionally, the participants were asked to write about the help they had sought for indebtedness and to describe their current situation.
Main themes in the texts include, for example, different life situations related to indebtedness, taking out loans and instant loans, financial distress, livelihood and arrangement of debts.
Background information included gender, age group, age when first became indebted, and highest completed education. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.
