Abstract
The dataset consists of texts on experiences of coping with a partner's mental health problems in everyday life for families with children.
In the invitation to write, the participants were asked to discuss the challenges posed by their partner's mental health related symptoms for everyday life and communication. They were also asked to describe the family's resources for dealing with mental health issues and to envision their life if all was well in the family. Additionally, the participants were asked if they had sought help from a local organisation, Mielenterveysomaiset Pirkanmaa - FinFami ry, which provides conversational therapy and peer support for the family members of a person with a mental disorder. The writers' participation in the "Toivosta Turvaa" project by Mielenterveysomaiset Pirkanmaa - FinFami ry and the City of Tampere, which offers support for children with families in the Pirkanmaa region, was especially surveyed.
Background information included the participant's gender, age group, perceived financial situation, and whether they had participated in the support activities organised by Mielenterveysomaiset Pirkanmaa - FinFami ry or the activities organised as part of the "Toivosta Turvaa" project. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.

Sampling Procedure
Non-probability: Availability
The study was advertised in an email sent to families who participated in the FinFami "Toivosta Turvaa" project or in coaching organised by Mielenterveysomaiset Pirkanmaa on social resources for coping with mental health problems in the family. Additionally, the study was advertised on the FinFami Facebook and Instagram pages and with wall posters in the FinFami office. The non-profit community Kumpaanuustalo Artteli distributed the invitation to participate in the study to its partner organisations via email. Wall posters were also pinned to the bulletin board in the Perheiden talo meeting place for families, and the researcher shared the invitation through social media.
