Abstract

The dataset consists of self-administered written texts by workers in the Finnish cultural sector on their experiences during the coronavirus pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many cultural sector workers had their work hours reduced or cut altogether. The writing invitation aimed to collect texts about how cultural sector workers coped with the exceptional circumstances of the pandemic period. The data collection took place during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic and the following months.

The writing guidelines directed participants to write about, for example, how the exceptional circumstances of the pandemic affected their ability to plan their work, their work tasks, and time spent at work. Participants were also asked to write about the support they received from their workplace or their work-related community and networks. Additionally, the meanings participants attached to their work and their outlook for the future were investigated.

Background information included the participant's gender, age, industry of employment, and employment situation. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.
