Abstract
This dataset consists of texts written by multicultural young adults on their perceptions and experiences of cultural pluralism in Finland. The invitation to write aimed to reach young adults aged 35 and under and whose parents came from different cultures.
The writing guidelines directed the participants to discuss their multicultural everyday life in Finland. Themes in the texts included the participants' relationship with the cultures of their parents and situations in which their multicultural background may have come up. Additionally, the texts covered how the identity of the participants had changed during their life and what kinds of prejudice and expectations had been directed at them.
Background information included the participant's gender, age group, and degree of urbanisation of municipality of residence. Additionally, the participants were asked whether they had been born in Finland and if not, at what age they had moved to Finland. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.
