Abstract
The survey charted the impacts of COVID-19 on the activities the of arts, culture and creative sector in Finland. The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture to examine the current situation of the Finnish cultural section as affected by the exceptional circumstances. Survey respondents included both organisations and individuals working in the arts and culture sector. A related follow-up survey, conducted in the spring of 2020, is also archived at FSD (FSD3477 Impact of COVID-19 on the Finnish Cultural Sector 2020). The respondents in the two datasets cannot be connected.
First, the respondents were asked whether their or their organisation's activities had been carried out as planned, either with small or significant modifications, during 2020, or whether the pandemic had prevented their activities completely. The respondents' views, based on their experiences from 2020 and the COVID-19 situation at the time, were also surveyed on the potential impacts of the pandemic on the arts and culture sector in the first half of 2021. Only the background information questions and questions 13 and 14 (described above) were mandatory for the respondents. Additionally, the survey included questions aimed at specific respondent groups. The respondents were asked, for instance, how the COVID-19 pandemic had been visible in their activities and where they had received support amidst the pandemic.
Background variables included the type of the respondent's organisation, main field of the respondent's activities, and whether the respondent's organisation received central government transfers.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
The survey included questions for all the respondents and for specific respondent groups only, so the number of responses for each question varies. Only the background information questions and questions 13 and 14 were mandatory for all respondents. Responding to the other questions was optional.
To prevent identification of respondents, variables with open-ended responses were removed from the data during archiving. Additionally, the researcher removed variables corresponding to questions 1, 22 and 24 in the questionnaire, variables denoting financial losses and savings during the pandemic (questions 25-34), and the open-ended variables at the end of the questionnaire (questions 35-38) before delivering the data to FSD.
