Abstract
The Tampere University survey for first-year international students collects information about their first-year study experience and their attachment to their studies and the university. In addition to the above, the survey focuses on personal study plans, student and faculty mentoring, study skills and well-being.
The survey started by asking how the respondent's studies have progressed, whether they have received the planning support they need, and how successful their planning has been in SISU. The next step was to find out students' opinions on student and teacher tutoring. The final section dealt with retention and student well-being. Respondents rated different statements related to issues such as coping, loneliness and remote study.
The background variables included gender, faculty, degree level, payment of tuition fees and information on working while studying.
