Abstract
The data consists of writings by young people aged 15-21, sharing their experiences of poverty in their everyday lives. The data was collected using FSD's Penna textual data collection tool and contains 77 responses.
The writing guidelines directed participants to write a free-form account of how poverty is experienced and how poverty affects their everyday lives. Respondents were also asked to describe the ways in which they cope with poverty in their everyday lives. Moreover, respondents were asked to describe the situations in which they perceive themselves to be poor. Respondents were also instructed to reflect on what poverty means to them and what poverty feels like. According to the writing guidelines, the experience of poverty did not necessarily have to be related to money.
Background information included age, gender and type of place of residence. The data were organized into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
At FSD, direct identifiers and, where appropriate, strong indirect identifiers such as company names, details of places of residence and nicknames have been removed for reasons of identifiability. The entries made by FSD are indicated by [square brackets]
The original data set contained 105 responses, of which 88 responses were allowed to be archived to FSD. The final archived data set contains 77 responses, as some of the responses contained only background information and others were copies of previous responses.
