Abstract
The data consists of interviews with North Karelian forest owners who have participated in spring restoration projects. In some interviews, the spouse of the forest owner also participated in the interview.
Thematic interviews were used to investigate the relationship of forest owners to the springs they own, their motives for restoration, and their experiences with spring restoration projects. The interviews also collected traditional information about other springs in the area, their uses, local history and beliefs about the springs.
The gender, year of birth and interview duration of the interviewees are provided as background information. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
The researcher has anonymised the data by removing the names of the interviewees and third parties, as well as information relating to their exact place of residence. The researcher's anonymisation policy was to remove place names that referred directly to the interviewee's own farm or to the surrounding area, so that the farm could be inferred from the name or other information. Names of other springs and places in the area have been left unanonymised.
In FSD, the anonymisation made by the researcher was completed in certain places. In addition, some other indirect identifiers were removed from the transcriptions in FSD. The anonymisation made by FSD are marked with [[double square brackets]].
