Abstract

The data consists of semi-structured interviews with Inuit in Greenland and the diaspora. The data was originally collected for the author's doctoral dissertation, which examined the significance of music and soundscapes for the Inuit's self-perceived well-being in Greenland and the diaspora.

The interviews focused on music, environmental soundscapes, and their connections to the interviewees' own experiences of well-being. In the questions about music, the interviewees were asked about making and listening to music, as well as how making and listening to music made them feel. The questions about soundscapes explored the sounds the interviewees heard in and outside their home environments and their experiences of those sounds. In addition, they were asked about changes in the environmental soundscape, compared the soundscape of their current living environment to those of other places they visit or have lived, and discussed how they anticipate the soundscape of their environment changing in the future. Inuit living in the diaspora were asked only questions regarding soundscapes.

The background information includes the timing of the interview and whether it was conducted in person or online.
