Abstract
The survey was targeted at users and producers of climate services. It charted climate services available to Europeans as well as their use and development. The study was a part of the EU-MACS project funded by the European Commission (grant agreement ID: 730500).
The producers of climate services were first asked about their role and the quality assurance process in the organisation.
Regarding barriers faced in the development and provision of climate services, the respondents were asked what kind of service their organisation produced, what kinds of economic, social, technological, ethical and legal barriers they had faced and which innovations they considered the most relevant in overcoming the barriers.
The users of climate services were asked about the importance of different characteristics in assessing the quality of climate service providers, purchase costs and resource use related to the use of climate services, and views about joint acquisition of climate services. The political, economic, social, technological, ethical and legal barriers to the use of climate services were charted as well as innovations for overcoming the barriers.
Finally, those who did not use climate services were asked about their reasons for it.
Background variables for both climate service producers and users included the type, country and sector of the organisation, the respondent's role in it, and networks it belonged to.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions
The respondents were able to respond to certain groups of questions more than once. They responded to questions q10 - q17_5 twice. The responses of the second round are numbered q10b - q17b_5. The respondents responded to questions q30 - q38_8 three times. The questions of the second and third rounds are numbered accordingly: q30b - q38b_8 and q30c - q37c_2. The third-round responses to questions q38c_1 - q38c_8 were missing information and removed from the data.
Most of the open-ended variables were removed from the data to prevent identification. All open-ended responses of the "Other, which?" format were removed from the data at FSD, with the exception of q20_28 that contains similar information as the preceding dichotomies in the battery. The original researchers had removed all other open-ended responses from the data before data deposition.
Weighting
There are no weight variables in the data.
