Aila Data Service under study

Anna Tuominen wrote her Master's thesis on the Data Archive's Aila Data Service, which was launched in May 2014. The thesis, which is based on log analysis, provides useful tips on how the Aila Service should be developed in the future.

The results indicate that the majority of Aila users search data by searching all fields even if doing so yields, at worst, hundreds of search results. Searching by keyword would lead to better results, but it appears that so far searching by keyword is difficult for an ordinary user.

Manager for Technical Services Module Matti Heinonen promises that some improvements to Aila will be implemented before the end of the year.
