This dataset consists of individual and group interviews on parents' experiences of peer support groups as part of non-institutional social care in child welfare. The data include individual, pair and group interviews with six participants. Individual interviews were conducted over the phone while pair and group interviews were conducted face-to-face.
The interviews and focus group discussions explored the participants' experiences of receiving support before joining a peer support group, their experiences of the peer support group, future expectations, and their image of themselves as a peer. Interview themes included, for example, the importance of peer support as a form of support, the role of counsellors in facilitating group activities, and the other forms of support the participants had received as part of child welfare services. Additionally, the participants discussed how the help provided by the peer support group had impacted their everyday lives and what the future looked like for their families in terms of their need for and access to help.
Background information included the participant's gender and the date on which the interview was held. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.
The dataset is only available in Finnish.
