Sisällön kuvaus

The data consist of written responses to the 'Experiences of Encounters with Wild Animals' memory collection. In the writings, Finns recount their memories and experiences of encounters with wild animals.

The writing invitation asked respondents to describe their experiences and memories of encounters with wild animals. Respondents could focus on everyday or unexpected encounters and the emotions evoked by them. Several questions were provided to support the writing process, asking, for example, about the kinds of places and situations in which the respondent had encountered wild animals and whether they had been warned about certain animals or places.

Background information includes the respondent's gender, year of birth, occupation, and municipality of residence, if provided.

74 writings in odt format. Additionally, the data were organised into an easy to use HTML version and a CSV version.

To prevent identification of respondents, the names of the respondents, the names of third parties, and possible other direct identifiers have been removed from the writings at FSD. Anonymisation made at FSD are indicated by [[double square brackets]]. For the same reason, some writings have been removed from the dataset.

The data archived in the FSD contains only those writings that the respondent has allowed to be archived also in the FSD. Any photographs submitted with the writings have not been archived at FSD. Competition entries submitted in paper format are not included in the data. The complete material is available in the archives of the Finnish Literature Society (SKS).

The data and its creators shall be cited in all publications and presentations for which the data have been used. The bibliographic citation may be in the form suggested by the archive or in the form required by the publication.
