Sisällön kuvaus
The survey studied Finnish people's views on which forms of leisure activities, social interaction, and needs related to personal hygiene and grooming are considered necessary for a decent standard of living in Finland in the 2020s.
First, the respondents expressed their opinions on statements concerning different ways of spending free time and social relationships, as well as the necessity of different hobbies. After this, they evaluated in more detail the needs related to self‑care and communication for an example person of their choosing. For this purpose, the research team had compiled lists of items considered essential for personal hygiene, appearance-related care, and communication for example persons of different ages and genders. Respondents were also asked to assess the necessity of mobile phones and smartphones for children. Finally, the respondents' consumption and travel habits were examined in relation to meeting loved ones and buying gifts.
Background variables included the respondent's age, gender, NUTS3 region of residence, household type and composition, education, main activity, type of employment, occupation (ISCO-08), type of housing, personal and household monthly net income, and subjective financial well-being.
