The dataset consists of interviews with people aged 18-25 living in the Finnish capital region, in which the interviewees reflect on their experiences of wearing face masks during the coronavirus pandemic. The research is part of the Citizen Shield project funded by the Academy of Finland.
The interviews examined the type of face masks the interviewees have used, why they had chosen to use the type of masks they have used, and what features make certain types of masks good or bad for the interviewee. They were asked about what challenges, if any, the use of face masks had created and whether some features of face masks were perceived as inconvenient or unpleasant. Additionally, the interviewees were asked about situations where wearing a facemask is either easy or difficult. The interviewees were also asked about the reasons why they use face masks. At the end of the interviews, the interviewees were given the opportunity to reflect on their ideal mask in view of possible future pandemics.
Background information included the interviewee's gender, age group, occupational status, and the date of the interview. The data were organised into an easy to use HTML version at FSD.
The dataset is available only in Finnish.
