The study investigated the interaction styles used by sport and physical education professionals participating in the Motivating Interaction training in different situations related to sports counselling, physical education and sports training, as well as their experiences of the Motivating Interaction training.

The survey was answered by physical education teachers, health professionals and sports trainers. Each participant completed an initial questionnaire before the training, a mid-term questionnaire halfway through the training and a final questionnaire after the training. Each questionnaire has been archived as a separate file. In addition, each professional group had their own questionnaires for the initial and final questionnaires, which followed the same pattern.

The initial questionnaire presented different situations typical of each professional group, in order to find out their interaction styles and ways of working. The mid-term questionnaire asked, among other things, about the interaction techniques they had learnt in training and what they had used and implemented.

The final questionnaire asked respondents for their views on training and presented four different teaching, coaching and mentoring styles, which were assessed from different perspectives. In addition, the final questionnaire re-submitted the situations from the initial questionnaire in order to find out about the interaction styles and approaches after the training.

Background variables included age, gender, occupation, length of employment, work experience and education level.
